Both images are outstanding. The focal point on the wasp's eye is spot-on and the attention to composition in both shots adds impact. Personally, I a fan of abstracts so the first one gets my thumb.gif

I agree with Bill - very nice Macros! My fave would be the Rust....not your typical rust shot either with those colors making it a pleasing abstract. As for the bug, while I can appreciate the nice focus on the eye, the image is not as pleasant overall (but truth be told, I'm not a huge bug fan!). GP

I also am partial to the rust abstract - although it seems a bit muted, really. How about pushing the boundaries on it? If you want to go really over the top check out the Other Cool Shots forum for the "rust junkies" that hang out there. They are apt to go a bit overboard, but the colors they get are something else.

    Thank you for the responses
Rust is my favorite too it is pushed quite a bit on the saturation levels but I will play with it a bit more. Rust is on a railroad oil tank the center is the original remnant of black paint

The Wasp was what i was taking a shot of it was off the trail that i did not want to tread on so I was reaching, I did not even see the spider until I viewed it on the computer. It was up at Calaveras Big Trees State park. I was look for spiders but they all were in hiding it was close to a hundred degrees so maybe the sweat in my eyes shooting live view on outstrecthed arms and 105mm lens

For me (and remember how individual our opinions are...), the comp of the wasp image is unbalanced. My sense of space wants there to be more space to the left and above. The capture is fabulous!
