A shot from the hip.

Hi guys,

I shot this image surreptitiously from the hip, as I didn't want to disturb these guys, who were taking break from work, swapping stories and enjoying a smoke. I did a mono conversion, added a little contrast and a cheeky crop.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the image.

Cheers for looking,

Good hip shot. Excellent field street technique: engagement and still getting a non posed shot...thumb.gif

Well yeah what you said but for this image to have lasting impact on a viewer, much closer
    is needed!

My feeling is that it is over exposed and not contrasty enough, but that could be personal opinion. Also it needs to be straightened a bit.

I'll try a closer crop and see how it comes out.

    Thanks for your comment.

    Hi David.

Thanks for your comments. The image had a lot more contrast in a previous life, but I re-edited it because I feel I went a bit overboard. I also like the fact it's not straight, I think it makes the image a bit more dynamic, but I'll try and see how it looks straighter too.

Very nice shot, but I agree with David. Really tilted is dynamic, this just looks a bit off. Bit more contrast without going overboard, and closer as bjfr says.

Nice stuff. Post some more from post-Olympics London.

I like the tilt with all the strong perspective lines converging, makes it dynamic. Agree about the closer crop though.

Cheers, I still need to try that closer crop, although I'm going to keep the tilt as is, that's just my preference, I did try it in various other positions, but this view felt the most comfortable.

Which Olympic pics are you referring too, I have lots from the actual games?
