Finally got a DSLR after wanting one for about 10 years. Very eager to learn! Here's a few unposed shots I got on my first practice session with it, using my family as test subjects. I'm pleased with how they turned out, but would love to hear what I can do to be even better! Drool removal in photoshop crossed my mind, but I'm more interested in improving my technique, if possible.

#2 is a good moment. Looks a bit yellow, so I'd check temperature. If you had captured it without the toy blocking the man's face, that would be preferable too I think. Other than that, good shot. Not so much on #1 and #3. Just ask yourself why you're making the image, ya know?

At this point I would recommend you read the manual, get to know your camera. Go online and read some beginning, learn your DSLR articles and watch some tutorials.

Go out and shoot anything and everything. Have fun.

Then when you start having some specific questions I think you will get more directed help.

    Congrats on the new camera!!!
