Black swallowtails and Spicebush, too, have started laying their eggs in my parsley. I watched one for a long time depositing a few eggs today.

I've been watching this egg for a few days and it seems about to hatch.

My other cosideration are these two caterpillars.

Butterfly teenager

Butterfly toddler

I have been AWOL from here since the spring. It's nice to have time to come back to see everyone's work and to participate again.

Thanks for your C&C.

Chris, I like the butterfly toddler--the focus is just right, and I love the colors!

15524779-Ti.gif with Kate for butterfly toddler, very enjoyable - nice macro for this challenge. For my taste though and on my display, I might dial the saturation back a little bit. These caterpillars are one of my faves but haven't seen them around our area yet. GP

Guess I will be odd person out... I think I like the "teenager" photo best... But really I think all three would work great for the challenge.

Thanks for the comments. Greta, the colors are sooc... no bump in saturation. I just bought a new Spyder and am getting ready to calibrate my laptop and monitor. I'll be interested to see what they look like after that.

FYI- the butterfly egg hatched minutes after my posting. Pretty amazing.

Hope you got a few pictures of the hatching! It's always a marvel watching a butterfly come unpacked. Love seeing these three as a set, but I think maybe the toddler is my pick to stand by itself.....great composition and fun play of DOF. And Greta, I'm with you, it looks a bit unreal as far as color intensity.
Good to see you again, Chris!

I think I like the toddler best because of the angle, and the lace ruffle of the leaf he's hanging out on... the teenager for the overall shape, and the egg for an awesome abstract!
