Thanks. She had good presence for just 16; but every once in a while the teenager showed through.

Love the first set. Might need a little bit more under eye smoothing?

Hmm, not something I generally look for on a 16 yo; but you're right....

kick ass stuff. so simple and beautiful..not really a fan of studio stuff in general but this kind of studio work is the most appealing for me

Thank you sir, I appreciate it. It really is about the connection more than the location.

Actually, I really like this one. Since she is a teenager I like to see that. Like number 2 in the first set.

    Very nice work!

I think the slightly frazzled hair and un-smooth eyes is what makes picture #1. These "flaws" add punch to the portrait and gives your model some character and personality; otherwise it might be just another standard high key, overlit white portrait.

I agree, a portrait should tell a story otherwise it's just another picture.

Very nice shooting going on here, with a very good model and careful processing. My pictures 1 & 2

Just one observation, in Europe it is kind of an unwritten rule for this kind of shots to have just one catchlight at 10 to 10 (in the Iris) .
I noticed that you have two catchlights, one on the top and one below. Clamp lights ? What is the rule/guideline (catchlight)in the US on this ?

    Hi Shooter,

Thanks for the compliments. These are supposed to be beauty shots, the second or bottom catchlight you see is actually a reflector to fill in under her hair, eyebrows and chin.

I could, I suppose, remove the lower catchlight if editorially required. Do you find it overly distracting?

    Ray
