We wanted something simple. Put camera on tripod, set timer for 20 seconds and took a fair amount of pics. And of course edit some, but not too much.

I hope you like it. I am working on how to use lighting outside, so I didn't try for this shot. Just used good morning light.

We have a nice wooden bench I took outside. D700, ISO 400, f/6.3, 1/40s, 116mm.

Little photoshop love could make this a lot better. it is a little overexposed. I'd like it better if it were warmer

Reduced brightness and made a few fixes.

    Making progress?

Next time I do a self portraitS I will ask somebody to help instead of going back and forth using the self timer.

    Thanks Phil

Good one .. The lighting is perhaps bit "flat" have you experimented with off Camera Flash ?? worth checking out for portraits . Also maybe a softer more subtle light by defusing the flash ??

Thanks. I have started to experiment with off camera flash, but not this time.

I was thinking this morning about posting a forum question regarding photographing seniors and the degree to which facial imperfections is acceptable.

    Phil:

In my specific case, I feel and see my wife and I facial imperfections as bumps in a very long road (50 years) of ups and downs, falling and going back up on our feet, caring for family and friends, crying and smiling.
To be short it is like the story of our lives.
I, personally will never retouch one of our pictures, alone, or together.
That's who we are and how we look.

For the rest of the people, friends etc. I ask How much is enough for you?.

I know there will be more replies and perhaps we'll disagree or not.
    This is my Humble Opinion.
By the way, very happy to see you together after so many years, and hoping for many more.
