Yellowstone Lake frozen over.

I've already been chided by Tom (in another thread) for calling these buffalo, which they are not. This is a Yellowstone bison! :D

Well seen and captured. Tells a lot of story for me and has me thinking over a number of things. One of which is he really lonely or simply a lone Buffalo at the moment... aaahh, Yellowstone Park Bison / North American Bison. Guess my buffalo calling days are over for this pilgrim :D
Will admit I was momentarily underwhelmed in my first impression, I suppose because of the huge amount of white space commanding so much room and so suddenly. Totally unfair regard to the work when it is in fact a creatively composed piece telling a story by strongly and intentionally pushing the limits. Clever really.

A good example of negative space making a statement. So who is the subject?

As usual, thanks for such an in-depth response Michael!

I can fully understand your initial impression with this image. To me, it really expresses how tough it must be to make a living in Yellowstone.

Had to check out what a 'Buffalo' looked like :D

If you were to take off the top I'd swear this Buffalo was walking on the ND tundra come winter time. Great shot. Gives me a chill just looking at it. Both because it's winter and because that Buffalo looks so alone.
