First HS Football Shots...Feedback Welcome

I was pretty lucky. This was second game but first with my new (to me anyway) lens and the game started early enough that I was able to get shots with natural lighting. Our HS plays 7-man football and home games are on a poorly-lit rec center field.

I love the first one and am happy with the others, too.

Thanks for any feedback!

    JD,

Very nice, great shots of there faces. The only thing that you want to look at is your horizon other than that nice job.

Thank you for the feedback, guys.

Scott, regarding horizon, are you referring to the fence in 2-4? Thanks, again.

By horizons he means the ground, nice series, just horizons are crooked on some, just need to straighten them up in post. Make sure the ground is straight depending on the angle you are shooting at.

    #1 is just great. Congratulations.

As for adjusting the horizons, I usually look for something that is vertical and sharp, a fence post, edge of a building, etc. and use that to adjust to.

1, 2 and 3 are just fantastic. When I tried football many years ago I just never got the hang of it. Kudos! And I'll echo about the horizons, and bobpal is correct that you need to find something VERTICAL and rotate the image so that verticals are vertical. Its the ONLY way to get a tilt corrected properly. This is not intuitive, you don't look for horizontals to fix a tilt.

Great shots! ! ! I wish I could have done great work like this when I was 1st starting out. OBTW . . . I envey anyone who gets to shoot football with some daylight. Up here in my neck of the woods right now I am down to about 1/2 hour of good light before they have to turn the lights on.
