I looked at your galleries and I LOVE the pelican picture. I'm not much of a bird person, but I really like that one!
Believe me no one got more frustrated than me with photography until i just learnt to accept my own stuff. I couldnt care less what people think of my shots & it wasnt until i got to be like that then people started telling me i had improved greatly from my humble point & shoot beginings. (actually my dads old praktica in 1974 was my 1st)
Just let go & shoot shoot shoot. Get into the LAB threads in here because after fighting Rutts mind control for 2 years now...he is on to something with LAB colour.
Good Luck
ps..dont be afraid to let a shot develop to look un-natural as you process it. Photography is nothing but subjective art.

Just to the right of the pic is the top of an old church with a heap of 1 ton bells on its roof so i shot it & when i opened it up in PS here is a bloody air-cond unit sitting smack square in the middle of the shot. Some people mate !
It looked great in the morning sun through the 400 until i saw that.

Very creative use of a camera effect that many go out of their way to correct with lenses or photoshop.
Always good to think outside the box.

I did back that blue off a bee's doodle though.
The second still has some distortion but it doesn't look intentional in the same way.
