Hi Folks,
I am new to smugmug. I have been an ad shooter for 25 years and have a client who is asking me to do an organization project for them and all their images have been uploaded to SmugMug. They want me to edit down their existing catalog, which are in various galleries/categories. They want me to create a number of new categories that will make their existing images easier to find for different departments. Some of the existing images will need to be copied, not moved completely, to new categories, and maybe to more than one. So my questions are these:
1. How can i move a selected picture, or even the whole gallery(say 15 pics) to a newly created category once they have already been uploaded?
2. Naming photos: Can I "select all" and name the whole category/gallery of images one time/one name?
3. Can I create new categories without uploading images from a source outside of SmugMug?
Thanks,
Jay

1. You can use the move to gallery tool to move photos.
If you'd like to have a photo show up in different galleries, check out the collect photos feature.
2. That can be done with the caption / keyword tool in any gallery. It also allows for bulk adding to all or selected photos within a gallery - just look at the quick entry feature.
3. Categories with no galleries won't show on your homepage, but of course you can create them before adding galleries as a category needs to be created before you can add galleries to it. You can create a category via the account settings > style > categories section. Or if you use Lightroom, you can use our SmugMug publish plugin to create categories from there. Once you've set up the plugin and connected your SmugMug site, you can right-click anywhere on the category / subcategory / gallery tree in the publish service to create a new category or gallery.
