July 4, 1981 3:00 PM. Resting on top of my car. Kodachrome 64, 1/60, f4. Between myself, my son and his wife, 32 shots ... this was the only one that"caught it". Maybe it was the "Auto" reflex TC that helped. :-) Surely couldn't do it today at 77 years old. Heeeee

Yes, Barbara, I recently gave it to my niece, who is going to have it refurbed (poor ole' thing). She's excited about the prospects of using it. I was the one who encouraged her to get involved in the hobby and it turns out that she has a ton of natural talent. I'm happy that she emailed me the link to this forum.
Thanks...I had also done that, but this storm suddenly developed while we were driving around the countryside looking for good opportunities. A couple of years earlier, my son had prompted me to take up the hobby and when I got the idea to stop and try this he stayed in the car with his wife saying it would be like winning the Power Ball lottery. As I started shooting, he and his wife thought that they might miss something and jumped out to join the party. Having had so much experience, his eyes bugged out (as did all three of us, of course), when we set up the projector and this image popped up on the screen.
As for trashing slides, I soon developed the habit of going through mine and discarding "bad" ones after 2 looks and I NEVER had prrints made. Now, my niece has EVERY slide I ever took. I'll be 78 next month and they will be in good hands when I die. :-)
That's an awesome lightning shot. Any chance you could post it in a larger size?
My dad used to shoot lightning back in the day with film cameras. I'm still in awe of anybody who can do that and have it turn out so well. I've got his boxes of old slides too.
Looking forward to seeing more of you work.

Sorry, I think not. I do have an 11" X 14" mounted, matted and framed, but my scanner width is only 8 3/4". Actually, I was lucky to have it enlarged this much from a 35mm slide and still have some good resolution and saturation. Wish I had a better answer for you. However, I did take a pic of it on my wall.
