Web stuff questions...

I'm interested in a small scale web presence and thought members here could chime in with some recommendations/comment. I'm not interested in on-line sales, so I can skip the whole shopping cart/backend processing aspect. Yet I do have some requirements as follows.

So, what would be your recommendations based on the following, and can you provide a link to your site if you've used what you recommend so I can take a peek?

Basic requirements:
1) No software purchase required
2) Software for development/maintenance resides on the host servers
3) Inexpensive to host, like less than $100/year
4) Ability to have a cover and a few tabs like About, Portfolio, Contact etc.
5) Within the portfolio tab, ability to have a dozen or so images in a slideshow format, no music
6) Ability to use a domain name purchased and held by GoDaddy
7) Templates are good, but it needs to look half-descent without looking like every other site

Thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

    why not use SMUGMUG?

I hadn't given that any thought, and I even have a SM account for MY digital shoebox. 11doh.gif

Does that require the PRO account to have the domain name point to a SM account?

No. You can use a custom domain name with a power account.

Features for all account levels can be seen at http://www.smugmug.com/photos/photo-sharing-features/.

    what i do is

-create a free wordpress blog, make the necessary pages (services, portfolio, contact us, etc)
-buy a domain name with web forwarding (go daddy)
-point the web forwarding to the wordpress url
-on the portfolio page, upload a slideshow/gallery on wordpress
-for client ordering, use Backprint its FREE, or Smugmug Pro account

see my site for all of this at www.jwphoto.biz\

Only thing NOT free is the domain name, and I bought mine for $5 for the year and it came with email (info@jwphoto.biz)

I do that with a power account here: http://www.captivephotons.com

I just freshened it up a bit, so welcome comments and criticism, but it also has each of the things listed above, though I put the portfolio slideshow on the front page. So very interested in any comments.
