Swallowtail Wannabes

Last week we discovered two swallowtail caterpillars in an unwatched pot of parsley on the back porch. At nearly 3 inches each we figured they were close to chrysallis stage. And, given the fact that most of the parsley had been eaten it was obvious that they had been with us for some time.
We named them Fred and Ethel.
Within a day of taking these pictures the parsley was finished and Fred and Ethel were gone. No note, no "thanks for all the parsley"... nothing. I looked around for a cocoon but never found them.
I hope they made it.
