Merging two sites

Hi. I currently have two SM sites. I want to merge the two of them into one, but I'm afraid that will make a mess. I would like to have something like a splash page in which one link would point to my existing galleries, and the other would point to the ones I'm about to move. The only problem is, I already have categories and sub-categories set up. Can anyone give me some advice? My two sites:
http://onlineproofing.bentleygray.net
http://boazpirates.bentleygray.net

I will be moving "onlineproofing" to "boazpirates."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a tough one. But I would rename all the categories on the old site, example, Nature to NatureOld.
Any standard default Smugmug categories that can't be renamed create a new one like, FamilyOld. Also might
have to create any sub-cats for this new category but keep the same name for them. Then put all its galleries
into it. Then contact Smug and have them transfer all the categories/photos to the new site.

When we move galleries from one site to another, the galleries will remain in the same categories / subcategories. If those custom categories / subcategories don't exist on the site we're moving to, they'll be created on the fly.

Email the help desk with links to both sites and which galleries you want moved.

BTW, the original urls for the galleries will continue to work. So if anyone has bookmarked them, the links will still work.

Thanks for the help. The main problem is that the sites are completely different. One is where I post pictures for the local school that I contract with, so it has a category for each year. 2011-2012, 2012-2013 etc. Within the categories are subcategories for the things I shoot within the year. My second site is the one I use for portraits, weddings etc. I would like to keep them separate, but within the same account. I guess that's asking for a lot. Any thoughts?

THANKS RICH! That is helpful. Can you think of a way to create the splash page effect that I'm looking for, so as to keep everything separate?

For the splash page because you want a separate page for each set of categories take a look at this page.

You could create a page for each.

Check that none of the categories used on the old site has the same name used on the new site. Otherwise
the old will merge with the new.
