The shot is certainly dramatic and grunge. I think having the in focus elements at the edges of the frame is fine, except that the young man in the centre is such a strong subject. It confuses my eye.
I really like this. The backdrop splits the image into four quadrants, each of which contribute to the image. For me the strong sight lines from the guy sitting to the dog and from the dog to the violinist help me read the image. The contrasting colours just add to the drama. Very nice.
