I don't usually do Black and White, or even stuff like this, but something about it caught my eye....

what do you think?

    Interesting shot
I like this image, it works well in B&W. The couple is surrounded by repeating patterns in the stone 'steps' and the stone railing supports.

    Nice one, Steven!
As an idea: did you think of adding some grain (to the background at least)?

    Nicely done conversion.

Could you post the color version also?? The angle of the lighting suggests nice, warm later afternoon sunlight to me, and I wonder how that looked in comparison to B&W.

Select the image with the rect. marque
Then go to filters>noise>add noise and select a low value 1-2.5 or so -adt by eye. Then use Hist brush over the couple to remove it from them. You could also do a selection around them to exclude them from the filter but that takes alot longer. Example:

Its subtle here - I used a low amt

    Here's the original:

I rather like the color. The pink container needs to be altered as the pink is a very jarring note in the monochrome tonality of the image.

I think I would try a nice complimentary color to the stonework and recolor the pink container and see what you think about the image. Or maybe just a gray or black would work. Just not pink eek7.gif:):

Allright. That's it. I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore.

    :D

Liquid posted this very same shot in the Whipping Post and had to beg for responses, and got very few. Now he posts in people, and he gets an onslaught. I'm going to take this personally. (Not really).

In all seriousness, don't forget the Whipping Post. It's there to serve. Everyone who posted here could add something of value to the critique going on in the WP.

lol3.giflol3.gif Dave, I could not answer in the Whipping post because he posted the B&W there, and my earlier question here, and in this post, was with regard to his color version.
Actually I was looking at the WP when I saw his image and it reminded me that I needed to return here and respond to the color version he posted at my request. I like the B&W, but think that the color version has a lot to say also if the pink container is recolored.

Cool your jets, Dave, don't get your dander up :D:D

It's all good, PF. Just being a squeaky wheel. I'm not really mad as hell. Hence the smiley. :D

I agree about the color. I think it adds to the mood. B/W is good, too, but the color's better.
