Good question. For some reason I liked the color. Probably the blue of the jeans on father and child, and the tat. But I'll try it in BW - you may be right.

I'll bite. The title tells me I'm supposed to be looking at something odd.

Obviously I'm not seeing it. ne_nau.gif

EDIT: unless it's the fact that those sneakers are so clean-- obviously just purchased. Anyone with kids knows that they get all scuffed and dirty approximately .003 seconds after being put on.

I think the youngster could be getting a lesson on tying them up.

It's no secret that I can't stand titling images. As far as I'm concerned, virtually every image should be titled "untitled." Let the image speak for itself. If you're not intrigued by the juxtaposition between the squeaky clean toddler sneaker, the the tattooed adult arm, so be it. I was. It's what makes for horse races. But then we often bet on different horses.;-)

Gotta say there's nothing about this image that makes it compelling to me. It's not "odd". It is well exposed and sharp.

I'm sure it's meaningful for the family that made it.

Yes, I think we live in different worlds. I guess I don't see a juxtaposition here-- my professional, catholic school librarian wife has more tattoos on her arms than that guy. And every once in a while we buy our not-so-little-anymore guy new sneakers. They're usually clean for a few minutes, anyway.

EDIT: and I almost misread your fist line as "I can't stand tilting images." And I thought, neither do I. It makes me seasick!

Well, if I were looking at this as juxtaposition, I'd comment something like "I know a few people with full sleeves that drive Ferrari's and have young clean kids." Which, as a matter of fact, I do...

What makes this shot work for me isn't so much an assumed juxtaposition of Class, that's irrelevant to me. Rather the geometry and composition. It doesn't rock my world or anything, but it is a fine example of looking and seeing all the time.

+ The arm has some interesting light on it.
+ I like the connection between the sneakers and the arm.
    - The blurry jeans/pants or whatever. Frankly, it totally ruins it for me.
