my smugmug site wont allow drag and drop anymore...
Dell XPS 8000 Intel Core j5CPU 750@2.67GHz
8 GB memory 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium

not only does the drag and drop area not open, clicking on the upload button it takes me to a page that says:
"We were unable to return you to smugmug.com.
Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore the website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem. When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop."

when I go back to my smugmug page to load photos again, the page does not offer the choices it used to, to try another way. It only has one Upload button, and I keep getting the message above.

I cant even get back to the page that tells the exact choices I originally had for uploading. Could I need to update something? Thanks much!

    Hi Linda,
Sorry for the troubles. It sounds like your java is outdated. Go to:
    www.java.com
click on 'free java download' and follow the instructions to download and install java. That should do the trick.

Thanks so much, Sebastian. I hadn't updated the java in a few years I think, lol. Drag and drop works great now! ;)))

I like to use the drag and drop uploader but I usually use the browse button. However, I've noticed that the "skip duplicates" feature is not working as of yesterday. I just checked it to see if a possible error on my side was the cause... but it's still uploading duplicates... not that it happens very often. BTW, I've recently updated my java and I only have one more theory for this on my end... otherwise, it's all on SM's end.

I saw this recently on my fiancee's Mac and was surprised. I'll have her update her java and see what happens.

Note that the duplicate detection only takes into account photos in the gallery at the time the uploader loaded. Therefore make sure before adding more photos to go to the gallery and click on upload again so that the uploader loads again also taking into account any photos added since you last loaded the uploader.

If you still have an issue, write the HelpDesk with details.

That makes sense although I did notice that wasn't necessary before. So, I just checked and it now works as you stated rainforest1155, but I think it's been updated (to not work like before) since the warning looks different to me). I'll adjust but it's annoying to close the upload window if I'm not finished uploading as I'd have to go through all of the necessary folders again to get at photos to upload when using the "Browse" button. So, as long as I don't do any mis-clicks I should be fine.

I'm sorry for any hassle, but to my knowledge that's always been the way the duplicate detection worked in our uploaders.

I can confirm that it's always been this way.

But a shortcut I use when I face this situation of resuming an upload is to just refresh the uploader window as it fetches gallery information when refreshed. Just be sure to wait for at least 5 minutes to allow the upload queue to process everything. If you don't, you may end up with dupes.
