Possible to have an album without password in a site with sitewide password?

I have a sitewide password for my smugmug site. Now I want to create some albums that I want to share without a password. Of course I want to send out the link of that album so people who receive it do not have to navigate to the album through my smugmug homepage.

Is that possible?

Thanks!

This is possible, but not with the password. No matter what, if the site / gallery has a password, it will be required to enter into your site / gallery.

You may want to check out unlisted galleries with Sharegroups. This way, you can share many galleries at once (when needed), require no passwords, and keep the other galleries completely private. thumb.gif

One more question: Can I make a category or something like a folder, such that albums within that category are password protected? Ideally one password that opens all those galleries.

I understand that I can do this with a sharegroup where I can show unlisted unprotected galleries (and first disable sitewide password), but then I will have to go through the extra hassle of listing new galleries in the sharegroup. The idea of having a site is to share images with family, just that I do not want all and sundry to be able to visit the site and see the photos - the reason for the sitewide password.

Smugmug does not have category passwords. You have two options:

    1. You can put a password on a sharegroup and manually list the galleries in the sharegroup.
    2. You can put the same password on all the galleries in a given category. All viewers will be able to see the category and which galleries are listed in it, but the password will be required to open any given gallery. Once a password has been supplied for the first gallery, all the other galleries with the same password will open without the viewer having to enter the password again. To the viewer, it works kind of like a category password except that everyone can see which galleries there are in the category before supplying the password.

If you don't want the list of galleries to be visible without entering the password, then you probably have to use the sharegroup option.

    Thanks for sharing!
I guess I will make do with one of these solutions.
