Most of the summer babies are now decidedly juveniles so seeing this very, very little fox squirrel show up for its first wide-eyed foraging forray at our feeder this late in the season was quite a treat.

    Gorgeous shot.

What focal length did you use? Or did you just sneak up really really close?

Thanks! I had the big lens out on the tripod and was maybe 20 feet away up on our back porch (this is a very little squirrel, maybe 12-14 weeks old and probably doesn't even weigh a whole pound yet). Shooting details are as follows:

    ISO 100
    F/4
    400mm
    1/180
    -4/6 EV

It was about 5:45 pm EDT so the light was low and fortunately beautifully clear. Most of the squirrels that frequent our yard will let me get pretty close since we feed them but I normally stay parked up on the porch and use the big lens so as to catch them doing their furball thing without being distracted by me.
