Halloween Costume Photo Shoot

Here's the lowdown.
Photo was shot against black sheets, one draped the other was wrapped
around a crib mattress on the floor. The lighting was from the left using
2 clamp lights with halogen bulbs & one from the flash pointed slightly to the right,
about 1ft. above the camera which reduced some shadowing on the right side.
I did post process slightly. I adjusted the white balance and reduced some shadowing
on the face & cropped the photo.

I'm looking for some constructive criticism so i can figure out how to re-shoot the photo
better on a Do It Yourself / Build It Yourself budget.

Very cute. You did a good job of managing the color balance considering you used two different light sources. But there are definitely some hot yellow spots that I assume are the result of the differences. Not sure what color your halogens are, but perhaps you can gel your flash to match the halogens. I'd also add a rim light or 2 behind your wee pirate to set him off from the background some.

Nice. If the the hat didn't already have a white rim (say it was a black hat) you would need a hair light of some kind.
