I just upgraded to Portfolio to have the opportunity of using Bay Photo.
I just learned from somewhere else a product from Bay Photo that I do not see on my list of options when ordering and I was wondering why there is this limitation? )-:

I am very sorry but we do not offer the full Bay catalog at this time. The items you sent a link to are not in the current catalog of items we offer through SmugMug. Please accept our humble apology for any problems that this causes you.

Okay, where in your restructuring/price increase does it explain this? I am/was under the impression upgrading to Portfolio granted access to Bay Photo period!
Is there a limitation for professionals on your Business level too?
We do not have it stated in the pricing and features page but here is a link to the items we do offer from Bay Photo.

There are some items we simply don't have the ability to offer (think multi image products). plus we chose to keep things simple. If we offered EVERY product, the shopping cart interface would be absolutely terrible to navigate. We've picked a selection of the most popular products. If you have suggestions about products you would like us to offer, we're open to suggestions. Feel free to add them on the following page. We really appreciate getting suggestions and comments from our users. We have a great tracking system that allows users to suggest features and other users can vote on them. Here is a link to the feedback site where you can make suggestions.

I was just on Bay Photo and noticed the acrylic stands for the smaller metal prints which would be nice.
I will suggest that at your provided link.
that Portfolio members may be interested in purchasing.
Karen , Good Luck there has been lot of complaining over the years about not having access to the FULL BAY catalog......and we were given time and again the lame apology above ....I say good luck as a lot of that have totally left SM have been asking for a full catalog for well over 5yrs ........
Personally I never could fathom why anyone would only want to offer a partial catalog, especially when the FULL CATALOG is easily accessible by anyone anywhere anytime....in other words publicly available and could only lead to one conclusion...that many SM customers would be asking why we can't have a full BAY catalog to offer our clients...also if you tell your clients that your products are from Bay Photo and they access the catalog themselves they will be asking YOU why they cannot order such and such...after a while it gets real old...having to tell your customers why they cannot order various items and then getting lame excuses about we are sorry if we have caused you a problem....they (smugmug) know it causes problems and from where I sit..don't really care....if they (smugmug) did care they would have the full Bay Catalog being offered when they signed first contract with Bay.......
the Portfolio subscription is really a waste of money...go back to the Power and just self fulfill...your clients will be much more appreciative .....
Well, I think it NEEDS to be in the pricing and features page.
If you're going to charge people the amount of money that you charge, you NEED to state what is offered and what is not. I am learning that not only are SmugMug customers that pay $150-$300 per year for your "services", not allowed access to the full catalog, but if you have a Bay Photo account that is not through SmugMug, you get the sale prices Bay Photo offers when they have a sale. For example, before I signed up for my SmugMug account about a month or so ago, I had a regular old Bay Photo account. So I get the e-mail's for their mailing list that notifes customers of sale events. Imagine my surprise when I asked Bay Photo if those sale prices were also applied to orders placed through SmugMug and they said no! So not only do we not get access to the full catalog, but if we self fulfill we get the sale prices offered during sales. If I am going to self fulfill, then there is absolutely no reason for me to pay SmugMug $300 a year. I personally do not need the features offered by SmugMug other than order fulfillment, because I am a web developer and can easily build a website to do what my SmugMug site does. I decided to pay SmugMug $300 per year solely for the convenience of exporting from Lightroom, and the automatic online order fulfillment. I could easily build that, but it would take a lot more time that the time it took to customize my SmugMug site, so I figured it was worth it for me to do so. I wish I would have known that the full Bay Photo catalog could not be offered through SmugMug, as well as that sales through Bay Photo were going to be a thing of the past. I myself am VERY disappointed in SmugMug for those two reasons, and before my year subscription is up, if those two things are not addressed (and fixed) by SmugMug, I will not be renewing and paying them another $300 for their services. I will be building my own custom order fulfillment system to do the same, but be able to offer my clients much more, and be able to save a little myself when Bay Photo does have sales.
I think everyone else feels the same. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it. I hope SmugMug is listening and takes this seriously. Guess we'll see.
I think I mentioned that in an earlier post....but you are correct that the whole of Bays Catalog is not available and all they have every is the normal fluff of being sorry and we wish we could....I have complained about this over and over again and even the fact that the SM Wholesale Prices are / were higher than Bays retail catalog prices ... .... normally when a company has the ability to bring in tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of new customers they get a very nice discount which will be made up in volume ... ... When I contacted Bay and asked what I could expect if my client did not like an image they told me the same thing SM says...we'll take care of it ... ... ... I do not know of any lab that doesn't take care of the client, otherwise they would not survive for very long....
I can see how keeping things simple for the basic users on SM makes sense... but with the new Price-List system, there is no excuse for the PRO (business) user not to have full access to Bay Photo's catalog. Nothing is more simpler then letting the PRO (business) users pick and choose the products they want to offer from Bay's catalog. It should be our choice to make the shopping cart interface cluttered with lots of options or to simplify it with less products to offer our customers. Making this happen also sounds like a no-brainer to those willing to pay more for a PRO (business) account.
As for your great track record with the feedback section... does anyone ever clean up the suggestions and combine some of them?
A simple search came up with several suggestions that were nearly identical. Hard to believe people have wanted the full menu selection of Bay Photo on SM for awhile and the one I liked the best from a simple search only has 5 votes so far. No wonder this isn't happening anytime soon. The idea of implementing the full catalog doesn't show up on SMs radar when people tend to start feedback suggestions for specific products they want instead of voting to make it simpler for SM.
Come on guys. Let's make this simple for SM... just implement Bay Photos full catalog.
Unless there is a better one out there, rate one of these up:
