Both too young and too old. Too young to have seen them
when they first appeared, from too poor a family to have TV
when they first appeared on television, and too old to be
interested when they became popular on TV in the early
1960s when I was already out of college.

But, familiar enough with them to automatically add "the
sea-sick sea serpent" when seeing Cecil's name.
