Well, I've come to a milestone. The cute little girl I used to bounce on my knee went to her first high school homecoming dance with a "date". Although I was booked silly on Saturday, I rushed home for five minutes between sessions to get a few snap shots of this momentous occasion.
There were a couple of other girls over at our house getting "gussied up". I got them to come out onto the sidewalk in front of the house for a quick shot. This image amuses me, and I think other photographers will notice it too. I was rushed and it was chilly so we had to be quick. Told the girls to "stand here" and "smile". Can you tell which subject has been forced to pose, stand certain ways, hold the head in a certain manner and create a connection with the camera since she was four? LOL

This is my baby with her friend since second grade. (Secretly wishing he was her "date" cause he's a really good kid) They never pick the one's dad wants though.

These are what they are, just quick snaps taken on a milestone occasion. Just wanted to share a part of my life with my online friends.

Seems a lot of this are facing this this year! She's 14/9th grade too, then?
And yes, it was immediately obvious which one she was. That said, you got all of them to put their weight on their back foot....
Yes, there was no question which gal was the most comfortable in front of the camera. I have two girls coming up on that age and am certain will have all those same emotions, x2.

Guess who told the other girls to put their weight on their back foot/leg? Hint...Wasn't me! Yup, 14 going on 22. This is magnified by the fact that she made Varsity Cheer as a Freshman, now she thinks 18 year old's are her peers and that she should be allowed to go do things with them because there is only one other Freshman on the team. Ehhhhhh, survey say's, "Wrong Answer".
Tell me, is there a LOT of drama at your house too?
Thanks, I thought the difference was pretty funny. It's kind of subtle and the average person might not notice, but I thought photog's would see it for sure.
Well, as far as dealing with your upcoming problem, do like I did. The young man was required to come over to our home to meet me prior to this dance. I just happened to be downstairs in my workroom cleaning and oiling a couple of my guns at that time.
2012 has been THE Year of Drama for us. Massive nightmare with magnet school, which child had wanted to attend since 4th grade. Idiotic system in this district does NOT select based on exclusively on results from the rigorous audition/interview process but states that if there are more qualified applicants than places (ie kids who scored over 80/100 on entrance requirements for their subject) they must all be put into a random-number lottery for places. She did a fabulous audition for a very high score and easily made the cut, but didn't get a place because of the $&*!&#! lottery. To complete the perfect storm, ALL of her friends got into their schools of choice (different subjects); she's the only one who didn't. The good news from the adult POV is that our zoned school is excellent academically, it's just not where she wants to be, so it's been pretty rough all round.....
We haven't hit the boyfriend thing yet, although her best friend (at a different school, cf above) has so I think it can't be far off... Heaven help us all!!!
