Selling photos from power user

Hi all - new here as I am just coming to the end of my trial. I was going to sign up for a power account but after reading some of the forum posts it seems that you cannot sell your own photos on that level account.

As this is a basic requirement of mine that is a show stopper for me (can't really justify the big increase from power to portfolio or pro) but I can't really believe that your photos cannot be sold?

Can someone please confirm if they can or cannot be sold as a power account?

Thanks
George

    Hi George,

Only with the Business level account are you able to price and sell your photos for a profit. With all other account levels you can allow visitors to place orders for prints, but they are at the SmugMug default prices and you do not earn any profit from the sales. For a comparison of the features of all our account types please see the following link.

    George,

Technically you can't sell photos for profit with a Power account.

However, with a fair bit of customization you can set up a Power account with a PayPal (or other I think) shopping cart that will allow you to sell at a profit (and cut out SM's 15% share BTW).

The one (fairly sizable) down side is that you must fulfill the orders yourself, they won't be automatically processed by SM, and you won't have the order history information in your control panel.

You will also need to watermark your photos prior to uploading since only Business and Portfolio level accounts have access to watermarks (totally stupid IMHO).

It's not a simple endeavor (I've never tried, but it looks like a good bit of work), but I gather that there are many people running this way right now.
