Tumblr sharing and image pixel size

I'm just starting to figure out the best way to work with Tumblr, and the SmugMug "be social" feature seems very close to what I want. However, I've run into a stumbling block: The SmugMug "be social" feature only allows you to choose from the standard image sizes (Small, Medium, Large, etc.), but Tumblr has an "ideal" image size of 500x700 pixels. When you post an image larger than 500 pixels wide (for landscape orientation) or 700 pixels tall (for portrait orientation), Tumblr resizes the image to fit into a 500x700 pixel bounding box. Unfortunately, Tumblr does a much poorer job of image resizing than SmugMug does!

As an experiment, I followed SmugMug's instructions for custom image sizing (http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93264) to get a 500x700 image, then posted that URL to Tumblr, and the result was dramatically better than when I used "be social" to post the image (and Tumblr did the resizing). Of course, doing this by hand for every image would be unworkable.

I want my pictures to look as fantastic on Tumblr as they do on SmugMug. Can the "be social" feature be enhanced to use a 500x700 size when posting to Tumblr?

Thanks for the suggestion. Could you add it to the SmugMug feedback page as well? That would help us to easily keep track of all suggestions made and also allow others to vote and comment on it.
