A very good capture. thumb.gif. Excellent comp with good details. You handled a difficult exposure pretty well.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Hi Harry, really appreciate your feedback - I was using the 55-250mm 'kit lens' from my old Canon 450D on my 7D - a 70-200mm L zoom lens is on my wish list.

    Cheers, Richard.

Hi Gale, 'never say never' :D I had not seen these birds until a couple of years ago - now they visit my area almost daily. They are difficult to photograph when they are landing on a tree and they fan their tails out as 'air brakes' - the red of the males is a fantastic sight.

Really nice shot of a bird I am unlikely to see either, in south Louisiana! Thanks for posting! Best, Pam

Hi Pam, thank you very much for your comment - and unfortunately Louisiana is out of their range.

    Cheers, Richard.

This is really a nice shot, and well captured. I like the crest sticking up and the nice pose.
