malware at SmugMug?

I haven't seen this problem in the forum. I have found just today that there are a number of words that are underlined in my gallery descriptions that when passing the mouse cursor over them will cause a popup advertisement with a link on it. This is also in the "Tools" section of my galleries so that when I am in the "arrange photos" section of the Tools, the word "photos" is underlined just above the "save" in the left side panel.

I have used CCleaner, Malwarebytes, and MS Security Essentials to look for malware but the results are negative.

My galleries are:

http://steveandbecky.smugmug.com/

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of this? Also, how can I have a problem with SmugMug since I thought that everything I am looking at is actually at SmugMug and not residing on my computer? I am using the latest Firefox browser.

Also, I know that some words in this post are being underlined and link to advertising but I assume that is because SmugMug wants to allow that. I would like to know if other people looking at my galleries are going to get malware or these popup advertisements because they are gross to me and I would have to close the galleries rather than allow that sort of stuff to be mixed in with my photos.

Please advise me on this. Thank you.

Steve

Don't worry, Steve - other will not see any of the things that you describe. Only people with compromised, infected computers will see something like what you are seeing. Suggestions on how to get rig of this - hire someone who you personally can trust.

OK thanks. I have been reading up on it via a Google search. You're kind to answer so quickly.

I've seen it too many times, unfortunately. It has nothing to do with smugmug. I see your galleries perfectly ok, without any of what your are describing. There is nothing (again, unfortunately) I can advise you in words, on these pages, that can help you. It requires having full access to your computer it is always something different. That is why I genuinely telling you the issue is with your machine and only someone knowledgeable and who you trust can help you.

Thanks for checking that out Mishenka,

Steve, I looked at your galleries and didn't see that problem either. If you can send us a link to a specific gallery, we'll take another look.
    Sounds like malware though.

    Thanks so much,

Thanks a million times over, everyone. My ignorance is hanging out for all to see.

I read up on this and found some cookies to delete that took care of that problem -- at least for now. I use the iPad most of the time and I guess that doesn't happen on it.

    I love SmugMug!

My guess would be that you have an unauthorized browser plug-in that is causing this behavior local to your computer.

Some things you can try to gather more info:
    • Try a different browser on the same computer and see if you see the behavior on the other browser.
    • Look at the list of browser plug-ins installed and disable or uninstall any that you don't recognie or know you can trust.
    • View your site from another computer and see if you see the smae behavior.
