The use of a camera is similar to that of a knife. You can use it to peel potatoes, or carve a flute. ~ E. Kahlmeyer

I feel this could have been stellar except for a few things. The left side of the frame is empty and the boy's face is buried in the shadow. A slight turn to the right might have really helped. But wow, the intent and the message still comes across very clearly.

Thanks Jen. I totally agree. I was afraid of risking engaging the boy by getting any closer to the front but now wish I had. Live and learn. Glad I still got the message across.

I think the space on the left adds to the feeling that this
is a parade route. Swinging the camera to the right would
have brought in more people and lessened the impact of
    the featured two.

Face shadow? Yeah, but this isn't a studio shot. It remains
poignantly obvious what the boy is doing there.

    Good capture.

Thanks Tony. I would like more of the boy's face seen but the space on the left was a deliberate move to give context to the shot.
