Social Sharing functionality is inconsistent

Multiple smugmug help articles related to social sharing features state that the sharing functionality is enabled if the following conditions are met:

Account Settings > Discovery > Social > Social Accounts = ON
Gallery Settings > Password = not set
Gallery Settings > External Linking = Yes
Gallery Settings > Easy sharing = Yes
Gallery Settings > Hello world = Yes

The "sharing" is defined as 1) buttons above (or under) the image and 2) "Be Social" menu under the "Share" button

Now, here is situation where something does not add up. Steps to replicate:
1 -Create a password protected gallery. Turn all the sharing options ON. Load Images.
2 -Create a NOT password protected gallery. Turn all the sharing options ON. Make it a smart gallery that picks up images from the gallery above.

What do you think should a sharing functionality be in the second gallery (question to smugmug support of course) ?

Here is how it really is: In the second gallery, which is NOT password protected the "Be Social" menu under the "Share" button exist, but the social button (Like it, Share, etc.) in the Lightbox view is NOT present.

Any ideas?

As long as you are seeing the Quick Sharing buttons (FB, Twitter) in the gallery itself (in SmugMug gallery style), in theory, you should see those buttons appear in the lightbox view as well. I tested this myself, and when collecting a photo from a passworded gallery to a non-passworded one using the settings you outline above, I am seeing the quick share buttons appear in the gallery itself, but not in the lightbox view. If the gallery the original photo is located in is NOT passworded, the quick share buttons do indeed appear in the lightbox view. So, this may be a bug, as the display of those quick sharing buttons is not consistent. I'll pass this along to our engineers to investigate further. Our apologies for the confusion, but we appreciate you bringing this to our attention!

Josh - thanks you very much for a quick investigation and confirmation of the bug. PLEASE let me know (post here or email directly) when, and if, it is planned to be fixed. This bug really hinders the whole sharing experience that is so much advertised by smugmug.

But I truly appreciate you taking a quick look and responding.

We can't give any ETA on when an issue might be resolved. The issue you reported has been passed on to our QA team and they'll take it from there.
    I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

This also applies to your other two reports in the other two thread.

Thank you, Sebastian, for a response and acknowledgement of my bug reports. Being in the world of software design and development for so many years I totally understand how and why your reply shields the complexity of the internal process from a customer - I in this case. And I understand it takes time to fix.

What I am concerned about is that SmugMug might not fully realize the implications of the situation. The broken and misleadingly behaving function that I reported in my three threads is prominently advertised on the SmugMug's home page: "Share | Protect | Buy & Sell". "Share" is being mentioned first. Sebastian - thank you for being a voice of the company. But when SmugMug changed the pricing for the services the CEO spoke personally. What I am reporting and suffering from is - if not fixed in a reasonable time frame, namely a few weeks - false advertisement. Current and potentially new customers who are searching for a photo hosting platform will, in fact, be aware about this situation in a form of an informative and factual publications if the issue is not addressed. "...passed on to our QA team...." is not a promising step. It does sound like a canned response. Is there anything more solid and factual SmugMug can provide in response to my complaint?

Let me kindly make another attempt to bring your attention to this issue. MICHAEL BONOCORE!!!!!! Please, read! Please try it. It is 100% reproducible. Moreover, I just found out it was even reported somewhere in 2010. What good is the prominently advertised sharing functionality to such a popular platform as Facebook if it is totally unusable and confusing?
