New gear for the holidays
Well, holidays are coming up and my oldest nephew wants to get into photography so I used that as an excuse to give him my 300D and upgrade to a 20D. I still can't get over what a great camera this is.
Since Canon has the rebate thing going I also decided to get a couple of new lenses (my nephew needs my old lenses also right? :wink ). So, I got the 50mm f/1.4 and the new 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM telephoto. I must say I'm VERY impressed with the IS on this lens.
Here are a few 100% crops I took right out of the box and camera. The pictures are from small/fine JPEG's without any post-processing. All handheld shots taken at ISO 800, f/8 1/25 sec exposure. The improvement from the IS is quite evident!
200 mm (no IS)
