Hi all,

New member here. A little intro, I'm an amateur hobbyist photographer and I really like retouching portraits. I'm big on having a natural looking retouch and because of that I spend a good amount of time for one portrait.

I thought it would be a good idea to show some of my work before I start commenting on other peoples posts.

Before/after for retouching practice. I wasn't too good at masking hair back so try to ignore the hair

these look very nice. 1st one is striking..though because of the severe sidelight ..there is just a touch more skin texture then I would like. The last one is quite nice as well..my only nit is teh whites of her eyes match her skin too much. Here is a trick for the eyes..instead of adding more exposure which can just look bad, selectively desaturate the "whites"..this gets ride of colorcasts while not overcooking.

I like one. The front shoulder could be a little more open but love the skin texture in that one.

Thanks for the comment and PS tip.

The color version of the first image has a little less skin texture to it. The high contrast BW conversion made the skin more contrasty.
