I can see why the first one caught your eye. Very nice light. The diagonal makes for a strong composition.

Thanks Don. I wish I would have shot just a little more to the left. I could have included the curling branch more so in the overall composition. Maybe it is not so obvious, but I tried to bring out the bottom right of the image to give it a more holistic effect.

The second shot, the mountain lake is a forced shot. It is of a place I need to have a picture of, and I didn't want to show the beach on the right. I did try to make the shadows in the leaves part of the composition. It's, okay, I suppose. I like the processing. It is a little "harder" than usual.

The third shot, a fishing lake about 5 miles from the house, is looking better to me every time I look. The processing is just what I'm looking for with the kind of faded, desaturated, flat color I like. This would probably look great on canvas or even just a lustre finish.

    This shot:

This shot is of a salt evaporation pond. The idea was to fill these reservoirs with water, let the salt rise to the top, let the water evaporate and the salt, when dry, would be scraped from the empty pond.

Previously unpublished from 2008. The Mojave River, normally dry at this point.

IMO post #5 and #6 are the best in this series Walter - especially the salt pond... nice looong DOF.

I agree, although I think you mean #4 and #5. I don't see six photos in this thread.

The mountains near my house weren't cooperative this morning. They peeked from under the clouds, saw me, covered up and went back to sleep.

Awhile after the previous shot, maybe 15 minutes, the sun began to warm up the clouds. They started to break and rise hiding the mountains behind them.

Thanks Leo. I kind of like 3 & 6. They were all fun to be there to take though.
