There is a new round of attack's making it around the internet today.

This is the email I have recieved three time's today.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

we have logged your IP-address on more than 30 illegal Websites.

Important:
Please answer our questions!
The list of questions are attached.

Yours faithfully,
Steven Allison

*** Federal Bureau of Investigation -FBI-
*** 935 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Room 3220
*** Washington, DC 20535
*** phone: (202) 324-3000"

There is always a .zip file attached. So far no one is reporting exactly what this file is but it seems to be a trojan of sorts possibly a more malicious virus than what is making the rounds. I will be testing it on a test computer tomorrow to see what it is although I'm sure it will be figured out by then. Needless to say people are falling victim and the FBI has asked (as reported on many news stations) that if you recieve this email don't open it, and report the activity by going to www.ic3.gov. The FBI does not send out unsolicited mail, and they aren't going to be conducting questionings through email. They will haul your (blank) in with handcuffs on if they really wanna talk to you.

Don't be a victim. Use common sense and don't open attachments you don't need.

What fun. I got 23 virus emails last night. 4 from the FBI, 2 from the CIA, and the rest were just general crap. Thank god it's the holidays and the script kiddies have time off school to write more viruses.

Over 200 attacks through our varies email accounts today at work that I have recorded. All .zip file scoming from @fbi.gov, @cia.gov, @hotmail.com, @aol.com, etc. The new subject lines are claiming they are confirmation numbers, passwords, registrations, etc. Bottom lin eis don't open .zip files if you don't know what they are ahead of time.

The virus is a variant of the sober which for those who don't remember is a nasty little worm that will take over you email system and can send hundreds of emails an hour, slow down your machine, lock stuff up, and in general not be nice.

I got one also, but it was from the CIA. The way I look at it... if they REALLY want me, they know where I live. rolleyes1.gif
