Lightroom plugin Collection rule for Smart Gallery

When I make a Smart Gallery with the Smugmug Lightroom plugin, there is a "Collection" rule available that includes the verb options "contains", "contains all", and "contains words", and more.

Can I not use this "Collection" rule and the "contains" verb to make a smart gallery that mirrors the photos in one of my Lightroom Smart Collections?
(I want to publish a Smart Collection, so I made a Smart Gallery and don't want to have to repeat all the rules in the Smart Collection to build the Smart Gallery - I thought I could simply use the Collection rule in my Smart Gallery to have it reference the collection, but none of the "Collection" rule verb options I've tried work - I always get zero photo results.)

So what do all these "Collection" rule verb options do and is there no way to use this rule to give me the same photos as in one of my Lightroom Smart Collections?

Example:
Smart Collection named "2012-08-04… Beijing Vacation" has a bunch of rules to build a collection.
I want to publish this same set of photos to Smugmug, so I build a Smart Gallery:
I do NOT want to repeat all the same (multiple) rules used in the Smart Collection in the Smart Gallery: that would mean repetitive work and if I change the Smart Collection rules I would have to remember to also change the Smart Gallery rules!
The better solution is to simply have the Smart Gallery take the Smart Collection photos by referencing the Smart Collection name...I JUST CAN'T MAKE IT WORK!
Any pointers on this would be appreciated.

The "smart gallery" feature within the SmugMug Lightroom plugin creates a regular gallery on SmugMug that is fed by photos from Lightroom. The gallery will not automatically update as you upload photos to SmugMug. It only updates if Lightroom notices new photos matching your criteria within Lightroom and you hit the publish button within Lightroom.

Outside of Lightroom, the gallery will not get automatically updated. If you wanted that, you would need to make use of the smart gallery feature available within gallery settings of a gallery in your browser.

Thanks for responding but let me be clear about the problem:
it is not about updating any gallery or collection:

IT IS AN ISSUE DEFINING A SMART GALLERY:
How do I defined it to include exactly the photos from a Lightroom (smart) collection????
This should surely be possible, but I can't figure out how!

    Thanks,

    Hi Colin,

Smart collections in LR are related in no way to smart galleries on SmugMug. I know where you are going conceptually, but what you are hoping for is very difficult with the limited subset of features that LR currently allows us.

But then what is the function of the "Collection" rule?
OK, I realize now this is more a LR question and not a Smugmug-specific issue so I think I will take this to the LR forums! :)

    Thanks for responding.
