I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

I like it Tom. Once a rust junkie always a rust junkie. I would however, lower the highlights on the center right part of the frame. Rust!clap.gif

I think you're right, Cristobal. I threw this one up on the board as I was leaving the house. I'll make a move to curb some of those highlights and re-post it as soon as I can.

    Take care,

    Cristobal....

I toned down some of the highlights in this revised version.

I thought I'd show those who aren't Rust Junkies what the image straight out of the camera looked like. If more folks appreciated what rust can be coaxed to look like, more folks would become converts to our clan.

Way to evangelize Tom - get 'em hooked if you can!
Version #2 is much better with that wonderful orange and cobalt blue.

I've always thought of " Elmer Gantry " as being one of my favorite movies. Must have been some subconscious connection at work there.

Yes, I just needed to spend more time on that image so that it could really blossom.

I really like that re-done version, Tom. But please tell me a little about your workflow to get from the original to the final version...

There's really no set work flow I follow. That said, though, rust responds to massive amounts of saturation adjustment, intense sharpening ( and other contrast manipulation ), luminance control, and maybe even some color channel tweaking. You've just got to sit down and start letting the sliders fly. Some of the other Rust Junkies may have a more structured approach but the general maneuvers I've mentioned seem to be consistent to all of us.

    More or less ditto! thumb.gif

Lightroom, high Clarity, Saturation, Sharpening, strong contrast curve. Maybe some HSL tweaking.

I couldn't agree with you more, Mary. Outside of messing around with rust, and the very limited foray I take into B+W photography, I rarely get into any PP work at all. But with rust....there are no boundaries.

Good stuff! Have not had a rust fix lately--maybe I will go out and find some rust to get me back in the shooting groove.

Well, at least your system is well enough advanced to warrant being named; mine is nowhere near so deserving. That said, I like the name you have adopted so I think I'll use it myself.:D

    That's not plagiarism, is it?ne_nau.gif

    See ya, pal,
