The Austin Beer Mile....

The rules are simple. No light beer allowed. When the gun goes off, open and consume a 12oz beer as fast as you can. When done, put the beer can over your head to show it's empty (or wear the beer), then go run a quarter mile returning to the start line. Repeat three more times and you're done. Puke during the mile? Run a penalty lap. Yup. Pretty simple rules.

My favorite pic of the event. Fine form indeed....

They probably take a lot of crap for that race but I think it's pretty cool.

Nice shot of the last lap (I'm guessing).

That's tradition for the last one in....

Actually, most participants and spectators are in the various running and triathlon circles so everyone knows everyone. The sponsor/announcer puts the event on to raise funds for his sister who is severely afflicted with MS. The event is held in a local city park and there are some strict rules about no drinking and driving, no trash, no glass etc. A donation is also made to the local Parks and Rec dept. for the use of the park for the event.

I'm not sure I'm ready to partake other than shooting at this point.

    Haha that's awesome!
We have something.. slightly similar here, although we don't drink and run!

Sweetwater 420 fest, a 5k lap around an urban-y neighborhood/park followed by a beerfest with live music, etc.
I participated this year, but that Beer Mile sure looks fun!!
