    Duchess thanks you for your votes. She feels like she's won a pageant and is asking for her tiara.

    Thanks to JAG for the topic. I've been meaning to take a portrait of this old girl for a long time. I've been absent from the challenges for much of this year and it was good to be shooting to topic again.

    Kudos to PedalGirl and earache.

    I thought earache's image was the most creative in this challenge.
    Earache, if you have a chance, can you tell me what the ball was made of? I assume that you lit it with an LED flashlight from behind, but it really looked like the light source was from within.

    Congrats on your fine, winning, portrait Chris! I happen to believe that Labrador Retrievers are sent from above, so, I really love your Duchess!
    The sphere is a polished piece of the mineral Calcite (with inclusions) - I collect mineral specimens and I knew, someday, I could create this illusion. So, when this challenge came-up, I figured it was time to give it a try.

    Congrats, Chris! Great lab shot! Also congrats to Eric! Two of my favorite shots this round. Thanks for the votes on mine... to actually have my self portrait come in 3rd just amazes me! I so rarely like pictures of myself to begin with, so to get this shot was special on a personal level and to have it actually win something is beyond all expectations!

    I'm Pretty happy to have tied for fourth considering this is only the second challenge I have entered. When I saw the topic I called two girls I knew, the second one was game and her purple hair HAD to be incorporated!
