"nicename"

Sorry when I'm wrong, but I understood that the "nicename" of a gallery is important for the search-engines.

If so, how is the hyphen, which is automatically appearing in between every single word, affecting this?

When I make for example a gallery "Smugmug flower and plant gallery" the nice name will appear automatically as " Smugmug-flower-and-plant-gallery". Does that mean that a robot catagorises "smugmug" "flower" "and" "plant" "gallery"?

Nicenames are not just there to provide search engines with additional information, they make the url much easier to read for humans as well. The hyphen is just there since spaces in urls may result in issues and look ugly if properly encoded to prevent the url from breaking up.

I can't say if hyphens have any significance to search engines, but I doubt it as it's a commonly used character to replace spaces in urls.
