Speedlite Lithium Power Pack

A friend of mine at our local Camera Club posted an item about a new lithium powered battery pack for speedlites.

1800 Full Power Flashes
1 second recycle
Dual Flash Ports
2nd flash does not affect recycle speed
2nd flash cord provided
3 hour recharge

And it comes in unobtrusive orange (tongue in cheek)

Pretty cool though... is this more for a studio/stand'ed speedlight, versus an on-camera?

It appears that a very similar (probably the same) to the previous Propac PB820 NiMH unit is being sold by B&H:

... so perhaps B&H will also have a Li-polymer version?

(Adorama may be coming with their own brand too, as they have a similar Li-polymer specified power unit for Metz flashes listed: http://www.adorama.com/FPPB960MZ.html)

True, I can find US Ebay listings too*:

I only mention B&H and Adorama to show that similar units have been around for a while (in the NiMH version) as a private label item. Reviews for that version are generally favorable. It would be reasonable to assume that a private label Lithium-Polymer version could be forth coming.

Options and choices are good things.

i have been seeing the NIMH versions on ebay for the las 2 or 3 yrs.... they started off being only available from China ... ... but as time went on as Ziggy mentioned you can find US sellers...

My question, is the cable standard, like a Quantum cable? Because they only come with one cable. If I want to use it with 2 lights I need an additional... Any clues?

The NiMH version is on Amazon for $146.00 and has connectors for Canon 580ex and 550ex style plug battery connectors--


Just search for Propac PB960

A Canon battery pack that requires 8 AA batteries is the CP-E4 that sells for $158.49 on Amazon.

Not sure if I can get them cheaper than the $175 they are listed on eBay for, but I sent a request to the company for QTY 20 (min direct order) and if it's a decent price and I can find enough people, I'll be willing to order them...
