I have a client that wants to create a book. It's as if she needs my login info to do so. She signs in to her gallery with her nicname but can't seem to be able to create a book.

I checked the purchase options in my account and didn't see a "book" option to add to the purchase list. How can she create a book without my personal login info? Thanks!

Looks like the books are not linked to the Smugmug cart/galleries. If my client creates an account with Canvas Books how does she get the images in to the book?

    Hi Brett,

Only the logged in user can create books. If you want to allow her to create a book on her own, the best thing for you to do would be to sell her the download images. Once she has the images, she can go directly to the company she wants to use, and create the book there.

We recommend you do not allow anyone logged in access to your account.

Thank you. The issue I have with this is that if you want to give them download images to create a book then they could also decide to go print their images somewhere else cheaper.

If I charge $12 for an 8x10 single print but sell each downloadable image (intended for a book) @ $3 ea. then I am running a huge risk of losing a lot of print profit. Is this a legit concern??

    Hi Brett,

If you don't wish to give your client the files, the only option would be for you to create the book for your client.
I'm sorry, but we do not offer a book solution at this point to allow clients to create their own books with your photos.

Would the low-res downloadable files be sufficient for my clients to make cards & books? Size of the file?

I would not recommend that since the customer may then be disappointed in the print quality.

Set your price for the files at a fair value, and recognize that you are then permitting the file to be used in the book and as a print. Or, wait until the client buys the prints you expect them to buy and then offer the files at a discounted rate.
