I think this shot is just amazing. Every time I see it I have to look around in it for awhile. It's easy to feel what it would be like to be there; plus there's a bit of unsettledness about it because we like to see and read things left to right and the flags blowing the opposite direction give it an edge that complements the crispness of the weather perfectly.
Well, 2012 was kind of a lame year for landscape photos for me. I didn't take near as many as usual and a good share of those I did take were more detail oriented and narrower angle as opposed to grand scenics. But I like to share so here we go anyway.
10. A good example of the narrower field of view. My buddy Mike fishin' in the gloaming.
9.What Oregonians wish the coast looked like everyday, instead of twice a year.
8. Boulders in the sunset that look like they belong on Easter Island.
7.Druid Arch. The high, bright sun was boring so I added a little Orton to it. Ok, a lot of Orton. And some other 'artistic' photo salvaging effects as well.
6. Rainy rainy day on the Umpqua River.
5. Testing out a new genre; Indoor Landscaping.
4. On the trail in the Redwoods.
3. Glow in.
2. Old Old West.
1. Golden sun on Short Sands Beach. This day was nonstop rain except for 20 glorious minutes when the sun poked through a small hole in the clouds.

Thanks Jay - this was taken at sunrise. It was really cold, hands were freezing. I got lucky in that the sun peeked through underneath the clouds just enough to light up the flags - just for a minute, and I think that really made the exposure - 3 shot HDR.
Wow so many great images this thread is really inspiring. Chris Moores night exposure with the Joshua tree really stood out for me since I haven't shot a similar image yet that I'm happy with and that one was really nice. Like wise bnickeson's shot of Mt. Ranier. Overall though so many wonderful pics in one place, again WOW.
Ok so here's my favs for 2012 Sunset on the American river, Sacramento California.
