As I said in the Freeze Motion thread, Cyndi is not doing "poses" here. She's doing a choreography to the song "Whine Up", my brand new favorite song. :wink

Don't be too surprised - I think it's just that time of the year and people are busy.

As for the photos .... The lighting is spot on and the girl is stunning. To my eye, the "poses" in all but the first one are a bit lack-luster. Again, to my eye, the first one is very good and has a lot of character.

I wouldn't sweat it Bilsen, I don't think people realize this was a test, to check capturing motion, without blur at lower shutter speeds. I do these tests myself for different aspects, BG, Bokeh, Detail or DOF, etc, and learn from them. I think you did great, I see no motion blur in any of them. Learning the limits of you're equipment is a big aspect.

    No problem.

Scott, as I said in the post, these are not "poses". She's doing a dance choreography and I'm freezing her with studio strobes. She was in constant motion.

Thanks Novice. As I said, I wasn't upset, just surprised.

I think the problem is that without knowing she was freestyling, we wouldn't know there was motion. Seems to me to get "dancing" she needs to be off the ground, her hair needs to be swinging (again, shows us she's moving - you could even use a blow dryer or fan to help with that) and/or drag the shutter so you get a trailing hand, foot, or hair to let the viewer know - without you telling us - that she's in motion. As it is, they look posed even though they aren't.

Of all of them, the one that works best for me is 5 thumb.gif

I see your point Diva. In another set maybe I'll use a fan.

Still, this was an experiment in freezing motion so, to that extent, this was a success in learning what my equipment can do.
