Very Bold Urban Sunset.

I kept moving the camera higher and higher to frame out as much "urban" clutter as possible (and then edited out the very last sliver of some of it). I'm also starting to find the 8x20 crop useful. In a place as flat as Florida it's almost a necessity in order to NOT lose your subject totally in vast expanses of sea and sky. Although in this case, obviously the sky more or less IS the subject.

A lower angle frame handheld for 1 second (gotta love VR). Although the lower angle was not all that bad, the increased "tension" from the traffic etc.. is really just not my preference.

Tastes vary. I find the composition in the second one much more interesting.

I agree I prefer the second one as well. It has movement and direction.

Thanks for the comments. Very much appreciated. Empirically I suppose the second photo is "better". I've read a few comments from experienced photographers on how the surrounding scene and experience of "being there" can often influence the their image preferences. Personally, I find it difficult to look at many of the photographs I've taken and be in a detached frame of mind without being influenced (or even "corrupted") but my other experiences from the moment.

I suppose I need to work on detaching myself emotionally a bit more when prioritizing my images. This is a very interesting process on many levels. It gets more interesting all the time. Thanks again!

I'll go with the first one - I like the minimalist comp and the range of colors in the sky.
