Good Evening Folks,
If the 24-70 2.8 II sells for $2299, how much can this lens sell for ? http://www.canonrumors.com/
I've seen the Tamron 24-70 VC sell for $1100 (used), and from the images I've seen taken with it, it's on par with the Canon 24-70 II. Any thoughts ? Just curious. Thanks for looking :thumb
Have a good night

Bottom line- An IS version can't cost much more than $2500 or so, and that would have to push the un-stabilized version down just below $2K. (Anybody remember the MSRP price difference between the IS and non-IS 70-200 2.8 mk1's? The 70-200 f/4's?)

Good Morning Matt,
The MSRP price difference on the 70-200's (both the 2.8 and 4.0, non IS & IS) was around $400 to $500 I believe. I don't think Canon would come in at $2700 or $2800 for the IS version, in keeping with that tradition. The same can be said for Canon's 70-200 IS II lens. Coming in at $1400, the new Tamron 70-200 IS is said to be on par with Canon's $2299 lens, from what I've read on the net. It's amazing at how close the quality of both of those lenses can be, but vary in price by as much as $800 or more, each. We'll have to see how Canon proceeds...
Have a good day
