    First one is a bit on the dark side and the second is a bit far in the other direction. The composition is nice and sharp

    This can be a nice picture, you captured clean sharp eye, As Chris said, correct exposure lies between the two. Shoot in raw if not already.

    Good capture. With your processing many of the adjustments should be applied locally as opposed to global adjustments. In this image only your subject needed to be "brightened" not the whole image.
