Your Best from 2012
Hi Y'all,
Its that time of the year again for your best wildlife pictures for 2012. If You have the inclination post 1-3 (I mean 1-3 not 4-72) of your favorite pictures here. I'm looking forward to seeing the posts. :lurk
Here are 3 of my faves from 2012
Over the years I have enjoyed getting captures of limpkins but I was never all that successful in getting flight captures so I was pretty happy with this capture.
Roseate spoonbills have always been one of my favorite subjects but they require the right light to really capture them.
If I was allowed only one more shoot the place where I would go would be Africa

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I took a lot shots this year, but for my mainstay, wildlife, I didn't come away with anything with a real wow factor.
That said, here's mine.
I got visit Harry in Florida this year (Feb) and enjoyed myself there very much. (as did Kate)
I think this is the best shot I got for that trip. It was on a morning when Harry wasn't with me.
Although I have a lot of shots with deer with pretty good sized racks, most of the shots were in the woods
and just lacked any wow factor. So this simple shot of a doe with her yearling in the warm light on a fall morning is it for me.
Lastly a shot that I've posted a couple of time, Sunset in the Badlands.
Thanks for looking, can't wait to see what you guys have.
Basking in the shadows of yesterday's triumphs'.
Happy New Year, Everyone! And thanks to Harry and all the other great coaches here for making me a better photographer. clap My favorites from 2012 are:
The Roseate Spoonbill, because like Harry, I am crazy about these beautiful pink birds:
The Turkey Vulture Security Guard, just for the humor of it:
The Louisiana Black Bear, because they are making a comeback from being endangered, and because I could never get good photos of them before I had a high-ISO camera (since they are nocturnal):
I know I can mail you some prints, 8x10 ok Merry Xmas Harry

Thank You I was surprised by it for sure, because it was taken with my Sigma 170-500mm lens which does not always perform that well but when everything is right it does the job.
