Custom Domain & Image URL addresses

Hello,

Question:

Will changing my smugmug site from my custom domain back to its original settings ruin the image URL addresses?

I mean, aside obviously from the domain portion of the address.

My reason for asking:

I'm hotlinking a number of my images from various websites I own. 'and would like to be able to quickly and painlessly change the urls as I see fit.

To further illustrate my question.

Presently one of my image's address is:

www.special-domain.com/photos/i-XTzXdTp/0/L/i-XTzXdTp-L.jpg

Will making the change back to the regular smugmug domain change the
""i-XTzXdTp/0/L/i-XTzXdTp-L.jpg"" portion?

TIA

    Hi Tia,

If the domain is removed, previous links that included that domain will be dead, they will not refer to the same image or page just using the SmugMug URL. So if you remove the domain, you'll need to update links so they continue to work.

If you need anything else, please let us know.

    Take care,

If what you're asking is will the part after the domain stay the same. Yes, it will stay the same. You can just change the domain and the URLs will still continue to work.

But, if you remove your custom domain from Smugmug, URLs using your custom domain will no longer work.

You could change just the domain portion of those other URLs to either use your smugmugnickname.smugmug.com or even to use a generic http://www.smugmug.com/photos/i-XTzXdTp/0/L/i-XTzXdTp-L.jpg. Your images are unique on all of Smugmug so smugmug doesn't need your unique domain in order to find them. But, if your custom domain is no longer even pointing at Smugmug, then URLs with it as the domain will no longer work.

Yes jfriend, that's exactly what I was asking. Thought it was obvious from the way I stated it.

Many thanks for your assistance. Have a good day. :D
