Really great concept and execution. Could you bring out the catch lights in the eye just a tad more? Enlarged it looks great but small their hard to see on my tablet.

    :D

Now if he only had finger less, ratty gloves like Fagen (Oliver Twist) thumb.gif

Not meant as a slur to anyone. Just an enhancement to the scene!

Thanks, glad you liked it :-)

The red glare you see in the eyes is of course by design, for enhanced impact. It's a reflection of my wife's red dress that's hung out just below the crop. It would be really hard to make it more pronounced without some drastic photoshop measures that I didn't feel like doing for this particular image.
There are two lights used - key which is of course barebulb with a small PAR and barndoors, and rim which is fresnel-ised. This is actually my favourite setup, majority of my portraits is lit this way. There is no reflector (well, you could count the dress as one) or background lights.
I see the Oliver Twist reference - I am told it resembles Confederate soldier too...
Whatever - I imagined it as a portrait of a greedy evil bastich. I think I succeded, eh?
Oh, and it's a selfie by the way ;-)
