So how long does the light stay in the sky ? Does it move in a few seconds or is it a slow movement like a few hours ?

The blue shot is great as is. The green/yellow shot, I'd try some "Impossible retouch" moves to get subtle color into the brightest part of the image. See: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=21648 You might also try some Man From Mars moves. Worked for the jellyfish, might work for the Aurora: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=21859
    If not now, when?

It changes, they're weird, sometimes they pulse even, and then disappear for a period of time and come back. This one moved at times and then just stood still and then shifted a little when it was blue and disappeared.

Hey thanks everyone! I'll be sure to show you the quality of the prints when I get them. I need to figure out how to identify if a picture would look better glossy or lustre. :P

Oh, remember where we hiked? There are a ton of other trailheads going there, and hundreds of lakes. I went to one of the lakes I backpacked at. If you run up there it takes like 15-20 minutes. That was a few days ago.

I've seen a lot of aurora galleries -- But this is so pretty.

Could you post a partial 100% crop? Maybe of part of the tree and aurora? I'm interested in the quality of the camera you're using.

I love the way you've framed the aurora between the trees. I hope your prints turn out gorgeous!

Number two is an amazing image all around. It has all the elements. The silhouetted trees and the vibrant reflection in the lake truly bring out the foreground. The sky is brought out with the sun at its last moment (not washed out at all). The aurora is just plainly amazing and you caught the colors to the T. The aurora also seems to add movement as it wisps over the mountains into the empty sky. Amazing…..

It also reminds me of that movie the Never Ending Story. You know when that flying dog flies.

Hey I finally got the prints back from that color lab. They're pretty good. The quality isn't the greatest but that's because it's a 6.1mpxl camera, there's a tiny bit of digital pixelation, but you have to be about a foot away to notice, any further and it's good.

Which do you like most, the glossy or lustre? Of course the photos are gorgeous. I especially love the reflected between trees lake shot that everyone else likes.

But I don't know about glossy or lustre either.

Great shots! Again, #2 is tops!

I personally like the lustre finish much better than glossy for a wall-frame print. How did yours turn out?

I'm a bit surprised about the pixelation. Did you upres like Dave suggested?
